Monofilament Top Wigs

A monofilament top is a fine transparent mesh at the crown with the hair tied through it individually, so each strand appears to grow out of the scalp underneath. It is what makes a parting look like a parting rather than a line drawn on a weft.

It also solves the complaint we hear most from daily wearers, which has nothing to do with looks: a wefted cap is warm. Mesh at the crown lets air move through the part of the cap that sits against the head, and for somebody wearing a wig eight hours a day that comfort difference is the reason they keep wearing it.

The trade is cost and delicacy. Hand-tying the crown is real labour, and mesh is easier to damage than a weft, so the crown should not be brushed aggressively. That is a small handling rule, and we put it on the care card rather than leaving it to be discovered.
